‘Starr conveys a vigorous New Wave sensiblity..’ ‘… painterly panache with pop attutiude’ Marie R. Pagano (Gallery and Studio magazine NewYork)
Brisbane is home to New Traditionalist Starr, and is represented there by Red Hill Gallery. Starr creates work that becomes contemporary icons, and none more so than Brisbanes own, Story Bridge.
Construction on the Story Bridge began in 1935 and was opened on 6th July 1940 at the cost of sixpence (5 cents, havent times changed!).
The Story Bridge features prominently in the annual RiverFire display. Bridge climbs began in 2005 and are becoming a major tourist attraction.
We hope to be “twitterveiwing” Starr soon and will ask her about her facination with Brisbanes iconic Story bridge.
